
STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) – A Sterling Heights woman is dead, while her husband and young child are hospitalized in critical condition after a police chase led to a crash in Sterling Heights Saturday night.
The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. in the area of Van Dyke and Metro Parkway, as a 16-year-old boy from Detroit ran a red light while fleeing police, according to police.
The 31-year-old woman was killed after the Chevy Equinox the teen was driving slammed into the family's GMC Terrain. She was pronounced dead at the hospital
Her 34-year-old husband and 2-year-old child were listed in critical condition on Sunday, according to Sterling Heights police. The names of the victims have not been released.
Police had tried to pull the teen over in the area of Van Dyke and 15 Mile Road, but he fled. He was uninjured in the crash, officials said.
It was not immediately clear why the teen was being pulled over. Police are not releasing any further details at this time.
