Monroe police warn residents of scammer impersonating local Catholic priest, asking for money

MONROE (WWJ) -- Police are warning residents about a scam involving an individual pretending to be a local Catholic priest and asking for money.

According to police, someone has been impersonating Father Kishore Battu from St. Michael's the Archangel Church in Monroe.

The scammer has reportedly requested money from several parishioners. Luckily, no money was exchanged.

Anyone with information about the man or has questions about the scam should call the Monroe Police Department at 734-243-7500.
