DETROIT (WWJ) -- The Monroe Street Drive-In movie theater is back in action for a second year.

The theater opened Friday with “Space Jam: A New Legacy” at 32 Monroe Street, adjacent to Campus Martius Park.

The first weekend of the season will conclude Sunday night with "F9" of the "Fast and Furious" franchise.

The theatre first opened last holiday season in a partnership between Bedrock and Emagine Theatres and is back for a second year with more features.

Officials say this year’s event features nine “outdoor seating pods” that can seat 2-4 guests for those who want to experience the theatre outside their cars. The pods are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are free of charge.

The movie schedule will be released on a rolling weekly basis, officials said with tickets going on sale every Tuesday at noon. Tickets for each vehicle cost $20 and can be purchased on DetroitDriveIn.com or in-person at the drive-in on the night of each show.

The Monroe Street Drive-In will feature a 60-foot by 32-foot digital screen with 62 parking spaces and 26 outdoor seats in the new pods.

The theater is part of Bedrock’s Decked Out Detroit event, which features holiday shopping, dining and entertainment throughout downtown.
