DETROIT (WWJ) -- The holiday season is right around the corner, and downtown Detroit is ready to get decked out.
Decked Out Detroit, a program launched by Bedrock and the Rocket Community Fund last winter to help small businesses through the COVID-19 pandemic, is returning this winter to transform downtown Detroit into a winter wonderland with endless shopping, dining and entertainment options.

Festivities will kick off on Nov. 10 and run through the end of the year, with a slew of wintry activities for all ages, from Christmas flicks at the Monroe Street Drive-In, 1001 Winter Wonders, Downtown Detroit Markets, and more.
Downtown Detroit Markets will return to Cadillac Square, with 18 local retailers setting up shop for the holiday season. Shoppers will be able to peruse a large selection of locally made products, ranging from pet toys, children’s toys, jewelry, home decor and more. A full list of retailers participating can be found on Decked Out Detroit’s website.
Laura Grannemann, VP of the Rocket Community Fund, says they’re excited to continue supporting local businesses this holiday season.
“These markets are about more than space – this is a platform for our small business owners to test new products, connect with new customers and convert them into long-term supporters,” she said.
Movies will be shown at the Monroe Street Drive-In, with holiday classics and family favorites. There will be heated outdoor seating pods -- perfect for date night or family night. Movies will begin showing on Nov. 12, and event organizers are expected to release a schedule of films in the coming weeks.
Cadillac Lodge by Bea’s will be offering up family-friendly entertainment and tasty treats, providing shoppers and travelers respite from the cold with exciting beverages and décor.
1001 Winter Wonders will set up shop at 1001 Woodward Avenue, just north of Campus Martius Park, featuring “an enchanted family trip through Downtown’s version of the North Pole.”
Visitors will be able to enjoy a free indoor, winter-themed pathway, taking them from ice paths to igloos, complete with a life-sized gingerbread house and the opportunity to wave at Santa and get a sneak peek at his “secret cabin,” before dropping off a postcard into his magical mailbox.
1001 Winter Wonders will open on Saturday, Nov. 20 and run through the final weekend of January. It will be open from 4-8 p.m. on Fridays and noon-4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
Officials say more updates will be made available on DeckedOutDetroit.com as the holiday season approaches.
In addition to the Decked Out Detroit festivities, ice skating will return to Campus Martius Park, scheduled to begin on Nov. 20.
