MSP: 'Severely intoxicated' 36-year-old driver arrested in Royal Oak with 3 children, dog in vehicle

A 36-year-old woman is behind bars after police say she was busted for speeding and driving recklessly in Royal Oak with a bodily alcohol content three times over the legal limit on Sunday night.

ROYAL OAK - A 36-year-old woman is behind bars after police say she was busted for speeding and driving recklessly in Royal Oak with a bodily alcohol content three times over the legal limit on Sunday night.

Michgian State Police said a driver caught the attention of troopers around 6:20 p.m. on Sunday after a vehicle was observed swerving across lanes, forcing other vehicles to move and at times, driving on the shoulder of the road.

Troopers were able to pull the vehicle over and found a 36-year-old Roseville woman behind the wheel.

According to MSP, the woman appeared "severely intoxicated" to troopers. Police found the driver was not the sole occupant -- three children, aged 3, 12 and 15, along with a large dog, were also in the vehicle.

"The driver was arrested for impaired driving, over three times the legal limit, and Child Endangerment," Michigan State Police said of the incident.

The children were released to a family member.

Sate police said the woman was taken to the Oakland County Jail while the case pends a prosecutor review.
