(WWJ) Michigan State Police are investigating their second freeway shooting of the weekend, this one in broad daylight.
State Police say troopers were dispatched to EB I-96 at Evergreen for a shooting around 3 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, they found three people inside a vehicle. One of them had a gunshot wound to the chest.
Troopers called 911 and shut down the EB lanes of I-96 in the area. The two uninjured people in the car told troopers that they had an argument with another vehicle in the area of Plymouth and Middlebelt. When they left the area, the vehicle followed them and fired shots at their car in the area of Inkster and Plymouth.
The victims' vehicle fled the scene and waited for help. The victim was taken to the hospital—his or her condition is unknown.
There is no description of the suspect or their vehicle at this point. Both Livonia and Detroit Police participated in the investigation.
This is the second freeway shooting in the local area this weekend, and among dozens in the past year. A woman is hospitalized after telling Michigan State Police she had been shot while on I-75 at Mack Friday night.
