DETROIT (WWJ) A drunk driver struck a Michigan State Police patrol car in Detroit and kept going.

State Police said the patrol car was parked with its emergency lights activated in the right shoulder of SB Southfield Freeway at 7 Mile when the suspect’s vehicle “failed to move over” and sideswiped the driver’s side of the patrol car.

The incident happened around 2:15 a.m. Troopers were able to catch up with the suspect’s vehicle on the SB Service Drive near 7 Mile.

He blew a .17 on a breathalyzer, more than twice the legal limit. Troopers took him into custody for high blood alcohol content.

No one was injured. The crash damaged the patrol car’s driver side mirror.

The Wayne County Prosecutors’ Office is weighing potential charges against the driver.
