EAST LANSING (WWJ) -- Over the weekend, the search for missing 18-year-old Brendan Santo continued -- but clues weren't found.

On Sunday, a group of 18 civilian kayakers and other paddlers took part in a day-long search along the Red Cedar River on and around Michigan State University's campus.

A statement on the search was posted on the Bring Brendan Home (BBH) Facebook page about the search, which said that the "newly dubbed BBH Paddlers" did an "exceptional" job.

While the search was set to begin at 9 a.m. and end at 4 p.m., their last group ended up searching until 5:30 p.m.

The search area they focused on was close to 5.5 miles, which doesn't include any branches of water off of the river, according to the statement. They searched from Beal Street to 515 River Street Launch and also covered backwater areas.

Surrounding large debris was searched about on foot.

"All of these volunteers went above and beyond to help us find any clues that could lead to finding Brendan," stated the post. "Unfortunately, they were not able to find any of his items."

The BBH community has a Facebook group dedicated to those who want to search the water for Brandon and are experienced paddlers.

The post concluded with, "Our family remains hopeful that Brendan will be found and brought back home to us and with our BBH Warriors at our backs our hopefulness expands 10 fold."

Santo has been missing since Oct. 29 when he disappeared the night before the Michigan State vs. Michigan football game.

He attends Grand Valley State University, but was visiting friends at MSU.

He was last seen leaving Yakeley Hall on campus by himself and his last cellular activity was on Beal Street near Michigan Avenue. His friends believed he was traveling back to the Brody neighborhood where he was staying with friends, but he apparently sent a Snapchat to a friend saying he didn't know where he was.

The cameras in the area were not working so there is no footage to show where his exact location was or in which direction he was walking.

He was last seen wearing a black Red Wing "Yzerman" baseball hat, a black shirt, gray sweatpants with a zipper back pocket and white Comme des Garcons Converse hi-top shoes. He was also wearing a gold necklace with a cross and carrying an iPhone 12 in a blue case with no screen protector and a dark brown wallet.

There is a current search investigation going on with a task force made up of local, state and federal authorities.

The BBH group urges people to go through their photos and videos if they were in the area that weekend to see if they notice Brendan in any of them.
