Two men ambushed by gunfire while sitting in parked car in Detroit, one killed

DETROIT (WWJ) Detroit Police are searching for a suspect in a deadly double shooting on the city’s west side.

Police say two men in their twenties were sitting inside a car when the suspect walked up and opened fire, striking both. It happened around 7:30 p.m. Friday on Shaftsbury in the area of 7 Mile and Southfield.

One of the men died at the scene. The second victim was shot multiple times in his body and taken to the hospital.

The suspect is described as a Black man in his mid 20’s, 5’10” tall, with a heavy build of approximately 220 to 230 lbs. and armed.

Officers are investigating a possible motive and the circumstances leading up to the shooting. They are also unsure if the victims had any connection to the suspect.
