Warren police sting ‘Operation P.E.A.C.E’ results in over 39 arrests

Charges included armed robbery, criminal sexual conduct, mutilation of a body and more.

WARREN (WWJ) -- Dozens of people are under arrest in Warren following a sting operation conducted by police last week.

Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer told WWJ in an exclusive interview that officers served search warrants across the city as part of an initiative called Operation P.E.A.C.E. (Police Enforcement and Community Engagement).

“The task force resulted in over 39 arrests and more than 67 felonies and 22 misdemeanor charges, and the execution of 18 search warrants,” Dwyer said in a statement.

Charges included armed robbery, criminal sexual conduct, mutilation of a body, carrying a concealed weapon, drug possession and more.

Warren police also seized 11 vehicles and around $2 million of cash during searches between May 3 and May 7.

At a press conference detailing Operation P.E.A.C.E Monday morning, Dwyer said of the 39 suspects, 27 were males and 12 were females, ranging from ages 16 to 64.

It was the seventh task force sweep targeting drugs, prostitution and other criminal activities in the last two years, according to Dwyer. In total, the operations have led to more than 400 felony arrests.

A press conference further detailing Operation P.E.A.C.E. will be held by Bill Dwyer and Warren Mayor Jim Fouts on Monday morning at 11:00 a.m.
