Parents charged in death of 14-month-old son at Farmington Hills Motel 6

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (WWJ) The parents of a 14-month-old boy found dead at a Motel 6 in Farmington Hills are now facing charges in his death.

The Oakland County Prosecutor's Office has charged 31-year-old Isaias Aurelio Porras with murder and first-degree child abuse, and 20-year-old Amanda Jajou with second degree murder, second degree child abuse and accessory after the fact. Both parents were ordered to be held without bond.

Authorities said the couple had been living at the motel, at 10 Mile Road and Grand River Avenue, when their son, Isaias Daniel Porras-Jajou, was found dead there on Sunday.

The baby's cause of death has not been revealed.

Concerned family members went to the Farmington Hills Police department Sunday afternoon concerned about the baby’s safety after some contact with the parents, Farmington Hills Police Chief Jeff King said.

“That level of trauma, be it when we see physical trauma, be it when we seen emotional trauma, is magnified significantly when it comes to a child,” King said.

“The Farmington Hills Police Department and our community are heartbroken over this tragic loss and my thoughts and prayers go out to the child’s family,” King said.

Porras and Jajou are scheduled for a preliminary exam on Oct. 21 in 47th District Court.
