DETROIT (WWJ) -- A party on Detroit's west side ends with a shooting and two women hospitalized.

The Detroit Police Department is currently investigating the shooting that happened on the 16000 block of Appoline early Friday morning.

During a party inside the home, police tell WWJ Newsradio 950's Mike Campbell that somebody at the party "freaked out" and got a shotgun, firing shots at two women.

One woman, who was shot in the stomach, is hospitalized in critical condition and the other, who was grazed by a bullet, is in temporary serious condition.

Authorities said the alleged shooter has been taken into custody after he had to be tasered by police.

Reports of police trying to get children out of the house early in the investigation have not been confirmed.

According to WWJ's Campbell, the scene of the investigation is "tense" and people on the porch have been trading insults with a group of people in the street.

The investigation is ongoing.
