DETROIT (WWJ) -- A driver who was involved in a hit-and-run on I-94 is in critical condition after he exited his vehicle and was struck by another car, which sent him into the air and over the median wall.
According to Michigan State Police, the victim's car was hit by a driver who failed to stop and fled the scene on westbound I-94, near Harper Avenue, just after midnight on Friday.
Investigation reveals that after his vehicle was struck, the victim got out of his car -- which was blocking the center lane -- and started to cross the freeway, but he was hit.
The impact of the crash managed to toss the man into the air and over the median wall where he landed in the left lane of eastbound I-94.
The man was treated at the scene and then taken to a local hospital where he is currently in critical condition.
The driver who hit the man stopped at the scene and was not hurt.
Both sides of I-94 were closed for investigation just after midnight and reopened at about 3:15 a.m.
