(WWJ) A homicide investigation is underway in Northern Michigan, where a second missing woman has been found dead in a matter of weeks.

Michigan State Police said the body, discovered in a wooded area by troopers acting on a tip last Friday, is believed to be that of 31-year-old Abby Renee Hill.

Police now say investigators suspect that she was murdered.

Hill, from the Alpena area, was reported missing and possibly endangered on Oct. 5.

The MSP Alpena Post said Hill was also being sought on felony warrants for unlawful imprisonment (kidnapping) and a firearms charge in a Sept. 21 incident in which a tow truck driver was allegedly held at gunpoint.

While police have thus far declined to comment when asked if, or how, the two cases are connected, it's been noted that Hill was Facebook friends with Brynn Bills, also found dead in recent weeks.

The body of Bills, 18, who disappeared in August, was dug up behind an Alpena home in late September.

Police have said 34-year-old Joshua Wirgau, who owns the property where Bills' body was discovered, is a "person of interest" in Bills' death. He remains jailed on charges that MSP said are unrelated to Bills' disappearance, but court records show are connected to the September incident in which Hill was also charged.

Also linking the two cases: A family member told UpNorthLive that Hill was one of the last people to see Bills before she disappeared.

Thus far, no one is facing charges in the killings of Hill or Bills, as both investigations continue.
