Police: CPL-holding truck driver kills armed robbery suspect on Detroit’s east side

DETROIT (WWJ) A tow truck driver shot and killed an armed man who allegedly attempted to rob him on Detroit’s east side, police said.

FOX 2 reports the truck driver was meeting up with the robbery suspect to buy a junk car when the attempted robbery happened.

The tow truck driver, who was a CPL holder, pulled out his gun and shot the robbery suspect as the crime unfolded, according to Detroit Police.

It happened on Young Street near Block around 9:35 a.m. Monday.

Detroit Police said preliminary findings reveal the shooting was in self defense. However, the shooting remains under investigation.
