ROCHESTER HILLS (WWJ) – A search is on for the driver of a car that hit and killed a Genesee County woman in Rochester Hills early Saturday morning, just moments after her boyfriend allegedly assaulted someone inside a different vehicle.
Sarah Ratliff of Davison, Mich., was hit and killed Saturday by the driver of what is believed to be an Audi Q7, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials say Ratliff, 30, was a passenger in a Chevy Silverado early Saturday when her 41-year-old boyfriend, of Metamora, allegedly reached up from the backseat and tried to choke the 31- year-old driver.
The driver, a man from Otter Lake, was driving westbound on M-59 at the time and was able to stop in an area off M-59 near the on-ramp to M-59 from Adams Road, the sheriff’s office said.
Ratliff and the driver got out of the truck and fled. Moments later, Ratliff was hit by the car about 100 feet from the truck, as it entered westbound M-59 from Adams, according to the sheriff’s office.
The driver of the car, believed to be a 2017-19 Audi Q7, continued driving on M-59.
Ratliff’s boyfriend was arrested and is expected to be arraigned on a felonious assault charge on Monday.
Authorities have not said what prompted him to allegedly choke the driver or why they fled the truck on the highway. The relationship between the driver and the others in the car was not immediately clear.
Police are asking anyone who may have seen the crash or the vehicle involved to call the sheriff’s office at 248-858-4954.
