Police looking for man armed with long gun who shot up Detroit gas station [VIDEO]

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit Police are on the hunt for a gunman who opened fire inside an east side gas station, critically wounding one person.

According to investigators, the suspect was armed with a long gun when he walked into the business — in the 9100 block of Chalmers, near I-94 — just after 5 a.m. Friday.

The gunman immediately fired shots, police said, striking a 40-year-old man in the body.

The wounded victim was taken by EMS to a hospital where he was listed in critical condition, as of Friday afternoon.

Police said the suspect fled the scene in a dark-collared sedan; possibly a Chevy Malibu. He is described as a male wearing a gray and black hooded jacket.

It's unclear if the victim was targeted, or what the motive might be for this crime.
