Police locate man wanted in fatal shooting of employee at Normandie Hotel in Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Police say they have found a man suspected in a deadly shooting that occurred late Monday morning at a hotel in Detroit's North End.

Just before 11:30 a.m., a Detroit Police Special Response Team surrounded the Normandie Hotel on Woodward Ave., between Chicago Blvd. and the Davison Fwy., after officials said a male hotel employee was shot and killed.

At noon, officers were searching the hotel floor-by-floor for the alleged shooter, identified by police as Jmar Tubbs.

A little later, Cpl. Dan Donakowski told WWJ's Tony Ortiz that the search had moved outside of the building and into the surrounding neighborhood.

The name of the victim has not been released.

The investigation is ongoing.
