Detroit police searching for missing mentally ill woman who vanished five months ago

WAYNE COUNTY (WWJ) - Authorities are renewing efforts to locate a critical missing Detroit woman last seen in late fall of 2021.

Detroit police said 30-year-old Ashley Forehand was first reported missing by family members in October 2021 off the 2700 block of W. Grand Blvd. Forehand has not been since being discharged from an area hospital.

Her mother, Keisha Forehand, told authorities that her daughter suffers from a mental illness.

This isn't the first time Forehand has gone missing; The Detroit Free Press reported on an earlier 2021 disappearance where Forehand's mother said her daughter, who suffers from bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, had gone missing and returned home on other occasions.

Forehand is described as a Black female standing 5" 6' tall and weighing 150 lbs. She has black hair and brown eyes.

Police said the clothing Forehand was wearing when she went missing is unknown.

Authorities did not release details about tattoos, markings or scars, but The Detroit Free Press had reported Forehand had a few distinctive tattoos: “Ina” with a cross on her right wrist; “Airyanna” on the back of her neck; “mellow” tattooed on her thigh and “Barbie” on her lower back.
