(WWJ) Police are searching for as many as four suspects at large following a shooting at an apartment complex in Southfield.
Multiple people called 911 shortly before noon on Monday to report gunfire at the Village Club Apartments, in the area of Civic Center andTelegraph Rd.
Plainclothes Southfield Police Units who heard the shots spotted two vehicles speeding away from the area: a black Lincoln with a broken-out window and a black Dodge Ram.
Unmarked units followed the Ram to the southbound Southfield Freeway where they tried to make a traffic stop. Police said the driver refused to pull over, and a chase ensued,
Officers eventually lost site of the Ram in the area of Mt. Elliot and I-94. They later found the vehicle abandoned at Canton and Benson, near East Grand Blvd. and Charlevoix.
Meanwhile, police received a report that someone in a black Lincoln had dropped off a shooting victim at a local hospital. The victim was reported in stable condition. No other information was released about the person.
Details about what led to the shooting are unclear as the investigation gets underway.
Later Monday afternoon, police said they were looking for two or three unknown people who were in the Ram, as well as the driver of the Lincoln.
