PONTIAC, Mich. (WWJ) -- Police are investigating a shooting at an apartment building in Pontiac Wednesday, the second at the same building in a matter of weeks.
The scene unfolded around 8 p.m. Wednesday when Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies at the Pontiac Substation heard gunshots coming from the neighborhood northeast of the station. A short time later, dispatch received a call reporting that an apartment building in the 100 block of Michigan Avenue had been shot up.
Deputies arrived to find the windows of a third-floor apartment were shot out. A 68-year-old man who lives in the apartment was alone at the time of the shooting and he was uninjured in the incident. No other victims were located at the scene.
The sheriff’s office says two rounds also penetrated a first-floor apartment.
Investigators found several shell casings in the roadway and retrieved a round from the ceiling of the apartment struck by the gunfire.
The sheriff’s office says the building was the same location a subject was shot at the previous week. Authorities did not disclose any further information about the previous shooting.
Police do not have a description of the suspect in Wednesday’s shooting and it is unknown whether the two incidents are related.
It was not clear whether the 68-year-old man was the target in the shootings. He says he has no idea why anyone would shoot at his apartment.
