FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) – A 64-year-old Southfield woman has turned herself in to police on Monday after allegedly killing a 33-year-old Pontiac man in a hit-and-run in Farmington Hills on Saturday.

Police received a 911 call just before 8 a.m. Saturday reporting a man was lying in the grass off of 12 Mile Road near Balmoral Way Road – between Middlebelt and Inkster Roads.

First responders arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene.

After a preliminary investigation, authorities believed an unknown white vehicle was heading east on 12 Mile and drove off the roadway -- hitting the victim on the shoulder of the road, before fleeing the scene.

It appeared that the crash happened in the early morning hours, but circumstances surrounding the incident remained unclear.

Law enforcement put out a request for public assistance, searching for anyone with information about the incident, the driver or the vehicle.

On Sunday morning, a woman turned herself into police and has been fully cooperating with investigators.

Her vehicle -- a white Chevrolet Equinox -- has been impounded and is being processed by Farmington Hills Police Department evidence technicians.

The investigation is ongoing. Once completed, it will be presented to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
