PONTIAC, Mich. (WWJ) -- Police in Oakland County are investigating an apparent gang-related stabbing that left one man injured.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called out to McLaren Oakland Hospital shortly after midnight on Wednesday on the report of a 43-year-old Pontiac man who had been stabbed in the chest.

Hospital staff told authorities the man had become angry with employees and walked out of the hospital.
When sheriff’s deputies showed up to the hospital, they canvassed the area and were able to find the victim and he was taken back to the hospital.
The victim, who had lacerations to his left arm and left side of his chest, told deputies he was at a BBQ and fell on a knife, but refused to cooperate further with the investigation.
Hospital staff later contacted the sheriff’s office to say the victim eventually admitted that he was stabbed by “a gang member” and that he was sorry for lying to deputies.
The victim is in stable condition.
Deputies canvassed the area around the victim’s home and the common areas of North Hill Farms, but were unable to locate a crime scene.
Authorities are still investigating the case.
