PONTIAC, Mich. (WWJ) -- A Pontiac woman is in police custody after allegedly trying to attack her ex-boyfriend with a butcher knife.
Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 400 block of Nevada Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Saturday after a man called, reporting he had been stabbed.
When deputies showed up to the scene, they spoke with the victim, who was bleeding from his right hand.
The 27-year-old man, who was treated by paramedics at the scene, told deputies he had been visiting his ex-girlfriend’s house to see the child they have together.
At some point during his visit, the 20-year-old woman received a phone call and stepped out onto the porch to answer it. The man says he believes the call was from another man and they began to argue.
His ex-girlfriend allegedly pushed him, according to police, before retrieving a butcher knife from the kitchen. While attempting to restrain the woman so she couldn’t attack him, his hand got cut.
While deputies were investigating and speaking with the victim, the ex-girlfriend attempted to flee the scene on foot. She was taken into custody without incident following a short foot pursuit.
The suspect was lodged at the Oakland County Jail, with charges pending.
