Who killed Cortez? Reward offered for tips in murder of man found in front of Detroit home

DETROIT (WWJ) -- A grieving Detroit family is reaching out for help from the community to bring their loved one's killer to justice.

Crime Stoppers on Wednesday announced a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of the person who murdered Cortez Bowerman late last year on Detroit’s east side.

Bowerman, 36, was shot to death on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021 at approximately 4 p.m. His body was found in front of a home in the 13500 block of Orleans, near I-75 and the Davision, after calls came in about shots fired.

Scanner chatter after the crime described as possible vehicle involved in the fatal shooting as a red or burgundy Cadillac SUV with silver trim, last see fleeing the scene northbound on Orleans.

Now more than two months after the slaying, there have been no arrests in the case, and police have not discussed a possible motive.
