WARREN (WWJ) -- The Warren Police Department have identified the suspect accused of murdering a man at a gas station -- and they're offering a cash reward for tips that lead to his arrest.

Police said 22-year-old Joshua Malik Carter, of Detroit, is responsible for shooting and killing 46-year-old Talal Shamo at the Marathon Station on Ryan Road near Jarvis, between 8 and 9 Mile, shortly before 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Carter is described as standing 6'4" tall and weighing 200 lbs.

He is also considered armed and dangerous, said Warren police.

In partnership with Crime Stoppers of Michigan, the Warren PD is offering a cash reward of $3,000 for information leading to the arrest of Carter.

Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer said that the police “want the public to be our eyes and ears and contact us with information. We are confident that somebody knows the whereabouts of Carter."

New details are also coming out about the shooting itself.

Dwyer said the shooting was not a random act of violence, saying that "The location of the shooting appears to have been an agreed upon meeting spot between the suspects and the victim."

Detectives who reviewed surveillance said they saw a Ford Fusion pull up next to the victim's vehicle. Then a passenger exits the Fusion and gets into Shamo's car and stays for several minutes. He then leaves before being flagged by Shamo to come back. That's when the passenger re-enters the vehicle before a struggle ensued where Shamo was shot.

"The Warren Police Department is committed to using all available resources to bring Carter into custody quickly and safely," said Dwyer.

Authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information. People can call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 586-574-4815.
