SHELBY TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- Police are investigating a pair of recent incidents involving children approached by strangers in Macomb County's Shelby Township.
The first incident, according to investigators, happened Tuesday June 9, in the area of Mound and 23 Mile roads.
Police received a report about a suspect who "followed two young girls around slowly," offering them candy.
The stranger was an older white man, the girls reported, driving a white van or pickup truck.
The children were not physically harmed.
Police said officers canvassed the area that day, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
One week later, on Tuesday, June 13, police said another young girl was playing in the driveway of her home in the area of 25 Mile Rd. and Jewell Rd., when a stranger driving a white SUV pulled up and asked if her puppy was for sale.
Again, the suspect was described as an older white male.
The girl was not harmed, and the man left when she went inside the house.
Anyone who is aware of any similar incidents, or who has information that could assist investigators with either of these cases, is asked to call Shelby Township Police at 586-731-2121.
