DETROIT (WWJ) Detroit police have shuttered a bar on the city's southwest side in the wake of a quadruple shooting.
Detroit Police said the gunfire broke out Monday around 4 a.m. at the Red’s Park-Inn bar on Central (4440 block) near Michigan Avenue.
Investigators told WWJ a fight started on the patio. Two men left, and when they returned, they opened fire into the crowd gathered on the deck.
Police said they have been to this bar at least 42 times in the past five years.
“We are not kidding around with this,” Interim Detroit Police Chief James White said during a press conference. “We are going to require these businesses do their part to keep people safe. They should not have been open at four a.m. and they certainly should not have had an 18-year-old at this location while they’re serving liquor.”
The 18-year-old was among the injured. Two other men; 26, 38; were also hurt. All three are expected to survive.
A man, 23, died from his injuries.
The identities of the suspects and the victims have not been released to the public. The gunmen remain on the run.
