DETROIT (WWJ) A 16-year-old has been charged in a triple shooting at a youth football game.
The Wayne County Prosecutors Office filed charges of Assault with Intent to Murder and three counts of Felony Firearm against the teen.
Detroit Police said the teen, who has not been named as he is a minor, injured three peers while firing into the crowd during a youth football game around 6 p.m. Sunday evening at a park near McCabe Field, at Boston and Otsego.
The bullets struck two 15-year-olds and one 14-year-old, who were spectators of the game. All three are recovering and expected to survive, police said. They are in stable condition.
WXYZ reports the Police Athletic League (PAL) sponsored the game, with over 800 people in attendance.
Detroit’s Interim Police Chief James White said the shooting stemmed from a dispute over the internet.
Officers detained four teens and arrested two adults at the scene, police said.
There is currently no word on charges against the other suspects.
