State Police investigate reports of shooting that led to freeway crash in Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Michigan State Police are trying to sort out the details of an alleged shooting that started in a Detroit neighborhood, and ended with a crash on the freeway.

Investigators say two people reported being shot at on Sunday evening in the area of Joy Road or Warren Road near the Southfield Freeway.

Between entering the freeway and Oakwood Blvd, they state they were shot at a second time. They continued on the freeway to eastbound I-94, then exited at some point and entered onto southbound I-75.

The pair then pulled off at Southfield Road and crashed into the wall.

MSP says when troopers investigated the incident, both subjects were inconsistent with their stories.

There was a bullet graze on the rear portion of the vehicle on the driver’s side.

Troopers are continuing to investigate the situation. No injuries were reported.
