(WWJ) Michigan State Police are questioning a driver's story after he reported a shooting on the freeway in Detroit Friday morning.

Troopers were called out to the westbound I-96 Local/Express ramp to M-39, the Southfield Freeway, at around 8:30 a.m. The driver of a Dodge Challenger said he was on the ramp when his passenger side window was "blown out."

Troopers swept the freeway in the area where the driver said it happened, and didn't find any evidence of bullets or glass.

MSP said investigators believe the incident may have been caused by a rock, or perhaps the driver shot out the window himself.

Police said the complaining driver does have a concealed carry permit (CPL) and had a gun with him in the car at the time.

The weapon is now in the hands of the MSP crime lab, as the investigation continues.

No injuries were reported.
