
DETROIT (WWJ) – A 43-year-old Sterling Heights man is facing a long list of charges after he was arrested with a gun, bulletproof vest and a taser during a traffic stop early Tuesday morning.
Michigan State Police officials say Eugene Knight, a convicted felon, ran a red light in the area of 8 Mile and Basil on the city’s northwest side around 2:20 a.m.
When he was pulled over, the trooper discovered he had several outstanding warrants for his arrest. Authorities did not disclose what those warrants were for.
He was taken into custody and his vehicle was searched.
Troopers found a loaded pistol and a tactical vest inside the car. Inside the vest was a taser flashlight. Officials did not say what type of pistol the man had.
Knight was arraigned in 36th District Court on Wednesday. He has been charged with one count of felon in possession of a firearm, two counts of felony firearm, ammo possession by a felon, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a taser, driving with a suspended license, no insurance, commission of a felony with a motor vehicle, habitual offender (4th degree).
He was given a $1,800 personal bond.
