TROY (WWJ) -- Charges are pending against a Macomb County woman suspected of driving drunk and fleeing the scene of a crash last weekend in Oakland County.

Police are investigating the incident that happened early in the morning of Saturday, April 1, in the area of Big Beaver and Adams Roads in Troy.

According to Troy Police, officers responded just before 1:30 a.m. to a call from a driver who reported that another driver had rear-ended his car, didn't stop at the scene, and that he'd followed the vehicle to Oakhill Dr. and Henhawk Street.

When officers pulled over the driver allegedly at-fault in the crash — a 29-year-old Sterling Height woman — officers said she was slurring her words and there was "an odor of intoxicants" coming from inside her vehicle.

After officers said the woman failed some field sobriety tests, she refused to take a preliminary breath test and was arrested.

At the Troy Police lock-up, police said the woman was read her Chemical Test rights and again refused to take a breath test.

Police got a search warrant for a blood draw, and results of that test are still pending.

In the woman's car, police found an open bottle of Jack Daniel’s whiskey.

The case has since been turned over to the Troy PD Detective Bureau for appropriate warrants once the blood test results come in.

The woman's name was not immediately released.

No injuries were reported.
