TROY (WWJ) – A 64-year-old woman is facing charges after she allegedly crashed while driving drunk on St. Patrick’s Day in Troy.
The woman, whose name has not been released, allegedly drove over the median in the area of Big Beaver and Rochester Roads just before 4 p.m. on Friday, March 17, according to Troy police.
When officers showed up, they noticed she was slurring her speech. She admitted to officers that she’d had one green beer and a shot of Jameson Whiskey prior to driving.
But after she was medically cleared by paramedics and determined to have not sustained any injuries in the crash, she performed poorly on several sobriety tests, police officials said.
She then submitted to a preliminary breath test with a result of .154% BAC – nearly twice the legal limit.
The driver was arrested and taken to the Troy Police Lock-Up Facility, where she agreed to submit to a Chemical Breath Test. Multiple results of the tests came back as .14%.
The driver was issued a citation for operating while intoxicated.
Authorities did not say where the woman had been drinking on St. Patrick’s Day or whether any other vehicles were involved in the crash.
