Sugar Factory set to debut in Downtown Detroit this spring

DETROIT (WWJ) - The Sugar Factory American Brasserie -- a couture eatery and popular sweet spot -- is set to open the doors to it's first Michigan location in Downtown Detroit this April.

The 233-seat restaurant will debut in the One Campus Martius Building through real estate firm Bedrock Detroit at 45 Monroe Street in late spring of this year.

The location will also feature Sugar Factory’s candy retail store filled with hundreds of different candy options.

“We are excited to bring our decadent dishes, sweets and treats to the Detroit community, which have been enjoyed by guests around the world for over a decade,” shared owner Charissa Davidovici in a press release.

“The energy and atmosphere of downtown and the One Campus Martius building is the perfect place for Sugar Factory’s family-friendly dining.”

The restaurant and store is a popular destination for celebrities and guests -- dubbed “The Most Instagrammed Restaurant in the United States” by Food & Wine Magazine -- with several global locations in Dubai, Las Vegas, New York City, Los Angeles and more.

Representatives for the restaurant said the new Detroit location will boast an immersive experience for guests from the moment they walk-in. Neon signs, floral walls and a colorful candy heart wall will present perfect photo opportunities.

The retail candy store will feature Sugar Factory's famous floor-to-ceiling candy wall, which offers a variety of sweet treats, including the brand’s famous Couture Pops.

“There’s nothing else like this internationally-recognized brand in the market and we’re excited to watch it become a destination for Detroiters and visitors,” said Naumann Idrees, Bedrock’s Vice President of Leasing.

“Sugar Factory’s lively and playful atmosphere will make an excellent addition to Downtown Detroit’s family-friendly options, and will be the natural place for a treat after ice skating or playing on the beach at Campus Martius just across the street.”

The new location will have both indoor and outdoor seating were guests will enjoy a full service menu and can be treated with a variety of the Sugar Factory'd signature, celebrity-approved "candy goblets," like the Cali Love featuring Kendall Jenner’s 818 Tequila blended with crisp apple and tropical pineapple flavor and topped with sweet key lime slices and apple rings; The Rock’s The Peoples Watermelon Cadillac Margarita, made with his Teremana Tequila.

Desserts featured by the popular restaurant include "over-the-top" milkshakes that are lavishly decorated and served in mugs coated in chocolate. According to the company, favorites of this popular menu choice include the Cookie Monster Make a Wish Insane Milkshake and the Caramel Sugar Daddy Cheesecake Insane Milkshake made with "blended vanilla ice cream, cheesecake, caramel and topped with whipped cream, a slice of New York style cheesecake, Sugar Daddy candy and a rainbow lollipop served in a chocolate covered mug with crushed graham crackers."

Sugar Factory says it's most popular dessert is the King Kong Sundae, which boasts 24 scoops of ice cream covered in a varity of sprinkles, gummy bears, caramel sauce, fudge sauce and giant whirly pops -- the sensational dessert serves up to 12 people.

The Sugar Factory's Detroit location will be open to serve guests breakfast, lunch and dinner.
