DEARBORN (WWJ) - Three suspects total - including one who dumped a firearm in a trash can - were taken into custody Saturday evening after an altercation at the Fairlane Town Center in Dearborn.
The Dearborn Police Department said they received reports of an incident involving a firearm at the Detroit suburb mall around 6 p.m. June 11.
As officers arrived, they saw one suspect discard a weapon into a trash bin before coming over to police; law enforcement arrested the suspect without further incident.
Officials said three other suspects were chased by police who they believe were involved in the initial altercation. Officers were able to catch up with two of them and placed them under arrest.
The other suspect eluded police and fled the scene.
Dearborn PD said while 911 calls reported that there was an active shooter, that situation did not unfold at the Fairlane Town Center and police found no evidence to support any shots being fired.
According to authorities, there are no threats to the mall or to the public.
Other details of the investigation will be released at a later time. No other information was made available by Dearborn PD as of 9 p.m.
