(WWJ) Detroit Police are searching for a suspect wanted for assaulting a 69-year-old man who tried to get into the wrong car in a grocery store parking lot.

Police said the incident happened at around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, in the 9700 block of Harper on the city's east side.

According to investigators, the victim walked out of the store and up to a white Jeep Cherokee that he thought belonged to the person who'd dropped him off. As he tried to open the door, the victim realized that it wasn’t the same vehicle.

That's when police said the suspect got out of the Jeep, and began beating the victim.

As the investigation continues, police are hoping that someone in the public can help them to identify and locate the suspect.

He is described as a Black male in his early-to-mid 20s, wearing a red beanie cap and dark clothing — including a sweatshirt with the words "Savage Mode" on the the front.
