DEARBORN (WWJ) -- The search continues for a teenage suspect who is wanted in connection with the murder of an 18-year-old woman in Dearborn over the weekend.
Dearborn police responded reports of a person that had been injured in a shooting on the 20000 block of Michigan Avenue on Sunday at about 8 p.m.
When they arrived, officials discovered an 18-year-old woman had been shot.
She was rushed to Beaumont Hospital in Dearborn, where she later died from her injuries.
Investigators say that the suspect, Antonio Lavelle Sims, got into a physical altercation with the victim, after which they believe he shot her.
The 17-year-old then fled the scene, and his current whereabouts remain unknown.
Sims is described as 5 foot 4 inches tall and approximately 130 pounds. He is still believed to be in the Detroit area, and is considered armed and "extremely" dangerous.
In statement, Dearborn police Chief Ronald Haddad said the department would "leave no stone unturned" and "utilize all available resources to solve this heinous crime."
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the young victim’s family and friends," Chief Haddad said. "I urge the community to speak out and help us bring the person responsible to justice."
