TROY (WWJ) -- The Troy Police Department is investigating three failed, and one successful theft of muscle cars that were parked in the Oakland County community last week.
The first incident happened at the Planet Fitness on John R. Rd., near 14 Mile Rd., sometime between 5:15 p.m. and 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11. Police said the victim came out of the gym to find that someone had broken out the passenger side window of his 2021 Dodge Challenger and tampered with the wiring harness and electronics underneath the passenger dashboard.
In a separate case the next day, Wednesday, July 12, between 6 p.m. and 8:09 p.m., a victim reported he was parked at the Powerhouse gym on Livernois Rd., near I-75, when someone broke out the window of his 2021 Dodge Challenger. The suspect did not take anything from the car, police noted, even though the victim’s wallet was in plain view.
Also on July 12, another victim reported he was parked at the Stoney River Steakhouse And Grill, on W. Big Beaver Rd Beaver Rd., near Livernois, when someone stole 2020 Dodge Charger from the parking lot sometime between 7:30 and 8:55 p.m.
The fourth reported incident happened on Saturday, July 15, in the 900 block of Chatham Drive, just after 8 p.m. In this case, the victim reported an unknown suspect shattered the window of his 2017 Dodge Challenger.
Officers who responded to investigate found damage from a pry tool on the window frame, and a screwdriver on the driver’s side floorboard,
leading them to believe this was an attempted vehicle theft, police said.
No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been described in any of these cases.
It's unclear at this time if they may be connected.
