TROY (WWJ) – A Troy man is behind bars for allegedly hitting and seriously injuring a 7-year-old girl in a hit-and-run crash last month.

The young girl was riding her bike on a Saturday morning near the intersection Silverstone Drive and Dryden Road, in the area of Square Lake and John R Roads, when she was hit.

Shortly before 11 a.m. on May 13 the girl was hit by a car driven by 27-year-old Raed Yousef Abdalla as she was crossing the street, according to Troy police officials.

The girl suffered a broken femur, broken pelvis, and severe abrasions in the crash.

Abdalla didn’t stop at the scene, according to police. Investigators learned from neighbors the car was familiar in the neighborhood.

Authorities learned Abdalla was connected to a used car dealership in Roseville, where the car was found about 45 minutes after the crash.

He was arrested at a relative’s house on June 19 and was arraigned Tuesday on one count of failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing serious injury, which is a felony. Bond was set at $1 million.
