WYANDOTTE (WWJ) – An elderly Wyandotte man “got some unnecessary excitement” earlier this month when he got an unexpected visit from a drunk man who thought he was in his own home.
Wyandotte police officials said in a humorous Facebook post the 84-year-old man was “chilling at the crib” around 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3 when a “urine soaked drunk man leisurely walked into his home” through the back door, which was unlocked.
The alleged intruder, a 61-year-old Wyandotte man, according to a report from the News-Herald, was wearing urine-soaked pants, appeared disheveled and was “extremely intoxicated.”
He allegedly told the homeowner he was going to bed.
“Drunk guy actually thought that he was at his own home!” police officials said on Facebook.
The elderly man told the suspect he was in the wrong home, but he didn’t believe him and insisted it was his own, according to the report.
When the drunk man went to the bathroom, the homeowner used it as a chance to call police, who responded and arrested the man for unlawful entry.
Authorities also discovered the suspect’s vehicle parked in the victim’s driveway, indicating he had driven there while under the influence. Officers found an open beer in the cupholder, according to the News-Herald.
Officials have not released the suspect’s name.
