DETROIT (WWJ) -- A cash reward is now being offered for information that leads to the discovery of a former Detroit police officer who has been missing for nearly two weeks.
Crimestoppers is offering a $2,500 for tips on the disappearance of 41-year-old Stephon Hodo, who served in the Detroit Police Department from 2005 to 2013.
Hodo's gun and car were stolen by a neighbor who was later suspected of firing shots into a home at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, in the 15300 block of Ferguson on the city's west side, police said.
A preliminary investigation found that the shooting suspect (seen in the video footage above, provided by the DPD) later returned that same day at around 2:30 p.m. to open fire at the house a second time.
Police said the victim, a man in his 40s, went to the front door and exchanged gunfire with the suspect. The victim was shot once in the finger before the gunman fled the scene.
Later, at around 11 p.m., the suspect was arrested by Detroit Police with help from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police, in the area of Tireman and Schaefer Hwy.
The victim was treated at a local hospital and was listed in stable condition.
The following day, on Friday, police were trying to locate Hodo as they are concerned for his well-being.
Upon further investigation, police discovered that the suspect in this case had stolen Hodo’s vehicle and weapons and used them in the shooting.

Both the vehicle and weapons have been recovered.
This arrest was conducted as part of the Violent Crime Reduction Initiative, a partnership between Wayne County Executive Warren Evans and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan. "We appreciate the coordination between DPD, Michigan State Police, and the Fugitive Apprehension Service Team consisting of DPD officers and Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies," police said.
The suspect's name has not been released, pending an arraignment.
Investigators say it appears there was some type of struggle between Hodo and this neighbor. Hodo hasn't been heard from since.
Anyone who has seen ex-DPD officer Stefon Hodo should contact Detroit Police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak-Up (1-800-773-2587).
