GROSSE POINTE (WWJ) -- Authorities announced on Tuesday that they're offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the person who tried to set a metro Detroit restaurant on fire over the summer.

The Grosse Pointe restaurant, Koi Nu Asian, on Kercheval Avenue was set on fire in early June by an unknown man who got in through a window, poured a liquid inside and then left.

Authorities have not released any footage of the possible suspect.

During the investigation, authorities said they found five plastic water bottles inside that all smelled of gasoline.

Bodycam footage has been released by Grosse Pointe Public Works where the fire can be seen burning inside the restaraunt.

Emergency responders had to break down the front door of the business to get inside and after failing to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher they ended up running water lines to completely put out the fire.

The city's public works officers were able to put the fire out before significant damage could be done.

"If it wasn’t for the quick response of the officers on duty that night it is likely the damage would have been far worse," said Grosse Pointe City Chief John Alcorn. "I am hopeful that the long-standing cooperation between the public and the police will help bring closure to this case."

Anyone with information about this incident or identification of the individual involved is asked to contact the the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) at 1-888-ATF-TIPS (1-888-283-8477).

Tips can also be delivered to the City of Grosse Pointe at 313-417-1190.
