WANTED: Driver who crashed car into building in Dearborn, fled [PHOTOS]

DEARBORN (WWJ) -- Police are asking for tips to identify a man who crashed a car into a building a Dearborn, then drove away.

Dearborn Police said the hit-and-run happened at around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021, in the 6502 Greenfield Rd. south of W. Warren Ave..

According to investigators, the driver of a silver Chrysler 300 was trying to make an eastbound turn onto Henn St. from northbound Greenfield, when he slammed into the building.

The driver, seen in photos released by police on Tuesday, got out of the car, but then got back in, fleeing east on Henn before officers arrived.

No one was injured in the incident, police said, but there was substantial damage to the building. Photos show the man also hit a street sign.

Police were still looking for the driver on Wednesday.

“With help from the community, we will identify the suspect, and use all available resources to apprehend the individual involved in this incident," said Chief Ronald Haddad, in a statement.
