
(WWJ) Detroit police have released a surveillance image of the suspect vehicle while they search for a killer at large.
On Friday, October 9, just before 2 p.m., police say a 48-year-old man was driving southbound on M-39, the Southfield Freeway, in a 2005 burgundy Ford Escape when he exited at Grand River and Fenkell.
While he was stopped at the red light at that intersection, a newer model silver Chevy Impala pulled alongside of him and someone inside began firing shots into his car.
The suspect then fled, headed westbound on Grand River Ave. and then turning left onto northbound Avon St.
The victim was taken to a local hospital while he died of his injuries.
It's not yet clear if the shooting was connected to a road rage incident, or if there could be some other motive.
