WARREN (WWJ) -- The suspect wanted in connection with the deadly shooting at a Warren gas station has turned himself in to police Tuesday.
The Warren Police Department announced that 22-year-old Joshua Carter was taken into custody without incident after going to the Detective Bureau for his warrants related to the murder.
Carter is facing charges of first-degree murder and felony firearm.
Police said Carter, of Detroit, is responsible for shooting and killing 46-year-old Talal Shamo at the Marathon Station on Ryan Road near Jarvis, between 8 and 9 Mile, just before 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23.
Dwyer said the shooting was not a random act of violence, saying that "The location of the shooting appears to have been an agreed upon meeting spot between the suspects and the victim."
Detectives who reviewed surveillance said they saw a Ford Fusion pull up next to the victim's vehicle. Then a passenger exits the Fusion and gets into Shamo's car and stays for several minutes. He then leaves before being flagged by Shamo to come back. That's when the passenger re-enters the vehicle before a struggle ensued where Shamo was shot.
Carter is set to be arraigned at approximately 1:15 p.m. Tuesday at the 37th District Court in Warren before Judge Chupa.
