WARREN, Mich. (WWJ) -- Warren Mayor Jim Fouts is recovering after taking a tumble while he was out for a jog last week.
In a Facebook post Monday, Fouts posted pictures of himself with a bloody nose and a lump on his head, injuries he suffered after falling during a run in the city early last Friday morning.
Fouts said in the post, “sidewalks have demonstrated a new reminder to me to be cautious regarding a recent mishap.” The mayor say it was a “great morning for a sprint and I did just that and ended up crashing down after hitting an elevated sidewalk.”
Fouts went to Beaumont Urgent Care on Dequindre, where he was told to visit Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. There, the mayor received a CT scan and an X-Ray, “followed by a good deal of blood taking and patching up.”
The mayor says he’s now “even more sensitive to residential complaints about sidewalks,” and says he a resident on the city’s northeast side has sent him a list of sidewalks that need to be repaired, to avoid future mishaps for other runners and walkers.
Fouts said he spoke with a city engineer and the Department of Public Works director, asking them to work on those sidewalks “ASAP!”
