27-year-old Warren woman shot by her estranged boyfriend in Detroit: prosecutors

DETROIT (WWJ) -- A 24-year-old Detroit man is facing multiple felony counts after it's alleged he shot a 27-year-old Warren woman in the leg.

According to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, Jayvon Moore and the victim had been in a romantic relationship but were estranged at the time of the shooting early in the morning of Wednesday, June 15.

At around 1 a.m., police responded to a home, in the 15040 block of Mark Twain Street on the city's west side, to find the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken by EMS to a hospital for treatment.

An investigation by Detroit Police found that fired a handgun multiple times, striking the victim in the lower leg before fleeing the scene. No further details about the incident were released.

Moore was arrested a few days later on the following charges: one count of Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, three counts of Felony Firearm, one count of Felon in Possession, and one count of Felonious Assault.

Bond was set at $750,000 cash at an arraignment Thursday morning in 36th District Court.

Moore will be back in court for a Probable Cause Conference scheduled for July 1, and a Preliminary Examination is scheduled for July 8.

Michigan Department of Corrections records show the defendant has a previous conviction for Felonious Assault in Wayne County in 2020.
