The National Weather Service issued the advisory in effect for the region, including all of metro Detroit, from 8 p.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Sunday. Freezing rain is expected to accumulate to less than a tenth of an inch, creating slick road conditions in some areas.

The best chances of accumulation will occur along and south of I-69, NWS said.

The slight glaze can still cause messy travel conditions and drivers are strongly encouraged to remain cautious and drive slow — slippery spots are also possible along bridges and pathways.

WWJ AccuWeather Meteorologist Matt Benz says the region will reach a low of 29 degrees, "though temperatures will be rising to or just above freezing by daybreak".

Residents are urged to prepare for travel delays and possible power outages.
