ROYAL OAK TWP. (WWJ) – A woman is behind bars after trying to fight her mom in Royal Oak Township Thursday afternoon.

Michigan State Police officials say they were called to the 21000 block of Wyoming around 3:30 p.m. on the report of a possible fight.

When a trooper arrived on scene, he saw a crowd of about 6-10 people and two women who were about to fight.

Authorities say a woman was squaring up to her mother and while they were arguing, the daughter indicated she was about to assault her, according to MSP.

The trooper dried to deescalate the situation, but the daughter was not responding.

After deescalation attempts failed, the trooper tried to take the woman into custody to prevent the assault.

The suspect resisted arrest, pulling her hands away and trying to fight the trooper, MSP officials said.

He eventually took the woman to the ground and took her into custody.

There were no injuries reported to the trooper or any parties on scene, according to police.

MSP did not release the names or ages of either woman.

The mother does not wish to pursue any charges. The daughter was arrested and held at the Oakland County Jail, pending prosecutor review.
